BITESIZE - ICT systems

http://www.bbc.co.uk/education/subjects/zqmtsbk

Bitesize was developed by the BBC to provide free online UK student support across all ages and subjects.

The ICT link summarises topics covered in the UK Curriculum, all of which appear to be in harmony with Learning Outcomes for ITC in the Australian Curriculum.

The website is comprehensive in its definitions, examples and coverage of managing hardware and software, understanding systems in ICT and the management of digitial data.

Interactive images, videos, activities, revision and multiple choice tests are all provided to engage and instruct students in knowledge and understanding of ICT systems, operating and managing digital data.

Australian students would benefit from interacting with this resource despite its British origins and references to currency and popular culture. The interactive videos are particularly engaging through the graphic design elements used to explain terminology, processes and systems for operating ICT. Each video ends with a multiple choice quiz to assess whether students have absorbed the information presented.

Bitesize ICT is web based, and accessible from any platform and device, adapted to suit all ages.

The Australian Government would do well to partner with ICT business' to fund and build a similar web based study support resouce for school age students.
