DROPBOX
Dropbox was launched in 2007 as a simple, secure tool to access files on any device at any time for free.
Dropbox is constantly improving the design of the resource, which can be accessed via a web browser or mobile device to enable users to edit and sync files.
Dropbox is free to install and use for storage of up to 2GB. Further increases of cloud storage can be gained by referring friends. Dropbox could be incorporated into upper Primary and Secondary School classrooms through initial scaffolding and explicit instruction.
Careful teacher moderation and a healthy Digital Citizenship amongst students is required to ensure Dropbox remains a safe and secure data storage and information exchange location/tool. Students increase their knowledge and skills in managing and operating ICT systems through interaction with Dropbox, as they learn to manage their digital data (limited by 2GB storage capacity) and collaborate on shared files and folders together.
